Concrete 2013 inspires wider understanding Concrete 2013 was in full swing from 16 to 18 October at the Gold Coast Exhibition Centre. It might surprise readers to learn that this was the 26th biennial conference of the Concrete Institute of Australia, and that the Institute is now well into its second half-century. With around 470 delegates, 60 exhibitors, three international keynote speakers and around 110 presented papers, the conference offered an excellent opportunity for learning and the most valuable of activities – collegial and business networking. The generous input from sponsors was key to ensuring the financial success of the conference, which has major bearing on the ongoing financial health of the Institute. At the top of the list of principal sponsors was ITW Construction Systems, the conference partner. BASF was the platinum sponsor, Hanson and Hilti the gold sponsors, and Grace Construction Products and Power Fasteners the silver sponsors.
