For further information please contact Certified specialist in corrosion prevention e National Association of Corrosion Engineers International (NACE International) has awarded Aurecon s Dr Ulf Kreher with Cathodic Protection Specialist (CP4) certi cation. e CP4 course focuses on the principles and procedures for cathodic protection (CP) design on a variety of structures for both galvanic and impressed current systems. e certi cation program is NACE International s highest level of certi cation and is held only by two other specialists in Australia; Kreher s recent certi cation making him the only Cathodic Protection Specialist in Victoria. Kreher is a senior materials technologist and heads Aurecon s Materials Technology Group based in Melbourne. In his role, he oversees a comprehensive range of CP designs ranging from marine concrete structures, including wharfs and jetties, to tunnels, culverts and bridges. Recent projects include the historic bascule Birkenhead Bridge, South Australia and the St Lawrence Bridge, Queensland. e latter has a cathodic prevention system for its prestressed girders and headstocks. Kreher is an ACA accredited corrosion technologist and has presented papers at CIA and ACA conferences on cathodic protection and prevention for concrete structures. His extensive experience includes design and troubleshooting of cathodic protection systems for buried and immersed steel structures, concrete structures; pipelines and tanks, concrete condition assessment and remediation, including development of concrete corrosion monitoring devices.
