Concrete in Australia Vol 38 No 1 13 FEATURE: CEMENT TECHNOLOGIES INTRODUCTION FROM GUEST EDITOR Cement technologies e drive towards sustainable development in Australia has resulted in the acceleration of numerous world-leading initiatives in the Australian construction industry. In cement technologies, some of the greatest innovations are in the introduction of general purpose cement with lower and optimum clinker content; greater and clever application of supplementary cementitious materials (SCM) in a variety of concrete; and the application of alternative cement technologies such as geopolymer in precast and insitu concrete as well as fire retardant in composite construction. While researchers are familiar with these technologies, it is timely that they are directly introduced to the users. I thank all my colleagues who have contributed directly and indirectly to these series of articles.
