Concrete In Australia : June 2008
International connections continue to expand The Concrete Institute has moved to reinforce its relationships with an expanding range of counterpart international and oversees organisations. The purpose behind these relationships is to work with other Institute, societies and associations to deliver access to resources from overseas markets which may not otherwise be available to Institute members. Jay Sanjayan, who is based at Monash University in Melbourne and convenes the Institute’s International committee, has been working in the Indian City of Chennai over the past six months. Sanjayan, together with Institute staff, facilitated the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Concrete Institute of Australia and the Indian Concrete Institute which seeks to establish a working relationship between the two organisations for the benefit of both memberships. Our Concrete Institute already has International Partnership Agreements with the American Concrete Institute, Initial discussions have also taken place with the Taiwan Concrete Institute and the Japan Concrete Institute the New Zealand Concrete Society, the Concrete Society of Southern Africa and the Concrete Society in the UK. Initial discussions have also taken place with the Taiwan Concrete Institute and the Japan Concrete Institute with a view to exploring what may be achieved through partnerships. QLD Branch changes Lynda Kennedy, Branch administrator at the Queensland Branch, is moving to a full-time position with Cement Concrete and Aggregates Australia. She has been with the Institute for some time and is well known to members in Brisbane and nationally. We wish Lynda well in her new role and expect to continue to see her at industry events.
