Concrete In Australia : June 2008
FROM THE PRESIDENT Keeping track of what is going on within the Institute can be a challenge. Looking for the big picture somewhere else. The more I am involved along with other members of Council in the day to day management of the organisation the more I realise that sometimes it can be diffi cult to focus on the big picture. Six branches, a number of committees, joint seminar activities with other organisations, publications, conferences, more committees, Council and a mixture of full-time, part- time and contract staff all add up to make the Institute a fairly complex organisation. I can understand why sometimes the Institute appears to be going in a certain direction when we really want it to go Concrete Institute of Australia Offi ce contact details National and NSW Branch Suite 2B, Level 2, 9 Blaxland Road Rhodes NSW 2138 PO Box 3157. I have asked the Institute’s senior staff to work with the Executive Committee to focus on a more clearly defi ned plan for managing the Institute. Part of the focus will be to critically examine the governance structure as it is now and how other models for Council and Branches may better meet our needs. As always I am keen to hear member’s views on these issues. Suggestions and comments are always welcome and members can contact me direct at the email address below.
